Post Blast Effect (Coal mining)

When using the Tulips there is much less ore contamination. In the case of coal mining it reduces hard rock capping on the coal as well as coal damage below the blast holes.

In coal mining we have assisted  clients to selectively mine thin layers of undisturbed high grade coal. This would not be possible with the conventional way of blasting.

When blasting coal seams and 'parting' simultaneously - conventional blasting would cause high levels of contamination.

The 'tulip' plugs prevent this vertical contamination from taking place.

When blasting coal with tulip plugs we approximately halve the explosives conventionally used which vastly reduces the fines.

Post Blast Effect (Hard rock mining)

When using the Tulips there is much less ore contamination. Because we have Downward and outward shock wave patterns there is much less disturbance and upward transportation of material that causes contamination of the layers and thus the product.

When using conventional blasting the diagonally upward shock waves distributes the material from the subdrill and other layers diagonally along. This causes the layers to 'mix' and the one contaminates the other.
